Jessica Durlacher – De dochter (03-019)

Sometimes a book becomes a bestseller, yet it is not clear why. At least not to me. Her father is a famous author, hence she becomes one as well it seems. Prizes, top ten lists, the lot. Yet I find this book nothing special. It is probably me, but 60 years later I have read enough books about trauma´s from war survivors or, like this one, trauma´s from children of those who survived the war.

Don´t get me wrong, this is not a bad book, I just can´t believe the hype around it. It has been translated in several languages as far as I know. I liked the idea of short chapters (131 in 238 pages), which made it easy to read. It is good to read how some things seem to change even though the main characters do not really realise it yet. It is not a bad book, I state again. Still, I was disappointed when I finished it.
