Day 19 - A song from your favorite album

Another difficult one. What is my favorite album? Ok Computer? Reconciled? 4630 Bochum? Let love rule? Animals? October? Epic Garden Music? Jehovakill?

I pick Wish you were here. It is not an album with great songs, it is a great album. From the first to the last second, everything is perfect. Not one song stands out, it is the finished product. In the eighties I discovered Pink Floyd. The old albums I mean, one of the first singles I ever bought was Another Brick in the Wall, pt2. Their sixties albums are fun to watch, but their seventies albums are classic, one by one. Meddle, Dark Side of the Moon, Animals, every single one is brilliant. But Wish you were here tops them all.

Now another difficult choice. How to pick a song from an album that is this good. I possibly prefer the title track, but I pick the ode to their former band colleague. Syd Barret, the crazy diamond. Not only because it is great, but as well because it gives me ten minutes of listening pleasure. Shine on you crazy diamond.

Shine On You Crazy Diamond (I-V)

Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom,
blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter,
come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!
You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision,
rode on the steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions,
come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!
